Bigger Striped Bass being caught

The most noteworthy report is the consistent telling of mostly large (over slot) sized striped bass being caught. Many anglers are reporting that they have yet to catch any schoolie sized bass. While this is certainly fun when a bigger fish in on the end of your line, it is also concerning from the conservation standpoint. 

As for the effective lures and baits. Eels have taken an early season preference with many of Sports Port's customers. And for the lures it is Slug-go's, Fish Snax XL, top water and SP Minnows.

The night bite has more bang for your striped bass buck. But, if you are like me and struggle for days after a late night, don't fret. The day night is pretty awesome as well. Shore folks are having great luck up inside the bay and harbors at any "choke point" where larger bodies of water narrow into smaller channels. 

There were fewer squid boats out in the Sound last night and we haven't had many reports on the squid front. If you have any reports, feel free to let us know!

Tautog are biting consistently in the rocky structures close to Hyannis. Green crabs and clams are the money shot. Also in the mix are large Scup/Porgy being caught - dinner plate sized!

Winter flounder on the bay side! Folks have been having a great time fishing 30' of water with seaworms on the bottom. Not having to venture too far out of Sesuit or Barnstable harbors.

Black Seabass open this weekend! We have local squid, Fishbites, diamond jigs, bucktail jigs and rigs to get your lines tight!
